At REDD Team, our removable aluminum stairways are made with not only quality and durability in mind, but also convenience. You can easily assemble our stairways onsite, and transport them from one part of your property to another with very little effort. But you’ll never have to sacrifice quality. You might not think aluminum stairs would be able to stand up to your demanding, challenging environment, but we make them to perform day in and day out.

What Makes Our Aluminum Superior to Steel?

Removable Aluminum StairwaysThe most commonly used materials used to make industrial-grade stairways are aluminum and steel. A lot of people still operate under the mistaken impression that steel is the only material durable enough to stand up to the demands of industrial environments. But we’d like to show you why this isn’t the case at all – aluminum is actually the superior choice.

It’s All About the Alloys

The aluminum you’re used to seeing in your everyday life is easy to crush. You could probably fold a soda can in half just by using two fingers of one hand. But the aluminum we use in our stairs and other accessibility system components is much, much different.

We treat our aluminum with 6000 series alloys that provide incredible strength. The 6061-T6 alloy, for example, fortifies our aluminum with silicon and magnesium. The result is a material that is just as strong as steel, yet much lighter – and more affordable.

Here’s a brief look at what makes REDD Team aluminum products far superior to steel.

  • Aluminum, unlike steel, has a natural layer of aluminum oxide that protects it from rust or corrosion. Steel has to have special coatings – expensive coatings – in order to have the same level of corrosion resistance. Even if you want to set up an aluminum stairway in a marine environment, you can do so with complete confidence. The salt air won’t affect our aluminum stairs in the least.
  • You also won’t have to worry about grabbing the handrails on a scorching hot day, because aluminum does an incredible job of dissipating heat. Grabbing a steel handrail, on the other hand, could actually be dangerous.
  • Aluminum is about 30 percent lighter than steel. This will benefit you in a number of different ways. First of all, you won’t pay nearly as much in materials. If you ever need to send your stairway to another location for whatever reason, you’ll pay less to do that as well. You can also easily move it from one part of the jobsite to the other.
  • As we mentioned earlier, you’ll never have to make any kind of sacrifice when it comes to strength. Our stairs are built to take a pounding, and take it day in and day out.
  • Safety is another consideration, especially if you need to install stairs in a volatile environment. Aluminum will not burn, no matter how high the temperatures may get. It also won’t emit potentially noxious fumes. Steel, on the other hand, is combustible and toxic.
