At REDD Team, we manufacture prefabricated metal stairs from extruded aluminum components. These stairs provide affordable access solutions for construction sites, in marine environments, in aerospace, and for modular or site-built classrooms and other buildings, to name just a few.

Outside Metal Stairs

REDD Team is a product brand of Hydro Extrusion North America, a part of the world’s largest aluminum extrusion company. Our high-quality aluminum access systems are American-made at Hydro’s Delhi, Louisiana extrusion facility. Our ramps, stairs, walkways, and other access products are fabricated from 6000 series aluminum for structural strength and toughness.

Advantages of Aluminum Stairs

Aluminum is a popular structural material in the fabrication of stairs and other access systems. It is lighter than steel and iron, and some alloys are stronger than some steel alloys. But weight and strength are not the only key factors. The aluminum components have some outstanding properties that cannot be matched by other materials:

  1. Aluminum has good thermal conductivity. At low temperatures, aluminum alloys get stronger without losing quality, making them exceptional in cold weather applications. The metal also conducts heat well and will stay cool to the touch in hot weather (another plus for safety reasons).
  2. Aluminum reacts with the oxygen in the air to form an extremely thin layer of oxide, creating an incomparable resistance to rust and corrosion. It can withstand highly-corrosive environments such as marine settings and sites with poor weather.
  3. Aluminum is lightweight, with a density one-third that of steel. This low density does not affect its strength.
  4. Unlike wood, aluminum will never split, rot, or warp due to environmental influences like rain, snow and UV rays. Aluminum stairs do not need to be refinished or replaced, and require no scraping, sanding, painting or staining to maintain them.
  5. Complex shapes can be fabricated in one-piece extruded sections, eliminating the need for mechanical joining. Stair frame components are consequently stronger and less likely to loosen over time.
  6. The natural metallic surface of aluminum is very attractive and does not need further finishing, but it can be anodized, painted or powder-coated if desired. It is also a good reflector of both visible light and radiated heat.
  7. Aluminum can be recycled over and over again without losing any of its superb characteristics.

Metal Stair Applications

The strength, durability, and rust-resistant qualities of REDD Team’s prefabricated aluminum stairs make them indispensable for:

  • Municipalities and Schools – Code-compliant access systems are very cost-effective for portable classrooms and municipal buildings. They are strong, slip-resistant, non-combustible and low maintenance. Easily disassemble, move and reassemble them in different configurations at any time.
  • Construction Sites / Field Offices –Aluminum stairs and ramps are ideal for safe access between building levels, hilly terrain, gravel pits, road/rail embankments, and other hard-to-reach areas. Use them for temporary access or permanently install them as fixed industrial stairs.
  • Oil, Gas and Mining – Modular man camps in the Midland Basin, Permian Basin, and other oil and shale extraction areas in Texas, North Dakota and Oklahoma, need stair systems that provide maximum comfort, durability and design. Aluminum stairs can withstand the harsh conditions of any remote site.
  • Marine / Waterfront – Aluminum stairs are extremely resistant to rust and corrosion. Unlike wood, they are self-draining and slip-resistant. Use them for recreational and commercial applications along the seacoast or for floating dock access in marinas and waterfront parks.
