REDD Team manufactures modular aluminum ramp systems engineered for fast installation at occupied sites and reliable, code-compliant performance over the long term. Modular accessibility ramps for schools & offices must meet the same fundamental accessibility criteria, such as slope, landings, width, handrails, surface, and edge protection, whether they serve a classroom wing, a portable cluster, a modular class, or a multi-tenant office entrance. Our systems are designed to meet all requirements from submittal through final inspection.
Built for Occupied Environments

Bolt-together components of our accessibility ramps eliminate field welding and keep noise, heat, and disruption to a minimum. They can be installed during school breaks, weekends, and holidays on school campuses or tenant-occupied offices.
The components of the structural aluminum resist corrosion and routine de-icing exposure better than painted steel or wood. The ramps also create slip-resistant walking surfaces that support everyday safety in wet or winter conditions.
What “Compliant Geometry” Means
The technical rules are straightforward and consistent across most U.S. jurisdictions (often via ADA Standards and ICC A117.1).
REDD Team follows the following baselines unless a local code is more restrictive, in which case we adapt to meet all requirements and criteria.
- Running slope: A maximum of 1:12 (8.33%).
- Cross slope: Should not be steeper than 1:48.
- Rise per run: 30 inches maximum before a landing is required.
- Clear width: 36 inches minimum between handrails. However, we will check all local amendments because some states/schools require wider widths.
- Handrails: Handrails are required on both sides where the rise of a ramp run exceeds 6 inches. The rails must meet graspability, continuity, and extension rules.
- Landings: Level landings at the top and bottom of each run and where direction changes. The common minimums are 60 in. long and at least the ramp width (turning landings typically 60 × 60 in. or larger, per local code).
- Edge protection: Protection along the edges is required at runs and landings to prevent wheels from leaving the surface.
For existing buildings where space is constrained, the ADA permits short, steeper runs, which are up to 1:10 for rises ≤6 in., 1:8 for rises ≤3 in.. REDD Team provides project-specific layouts when these allowances apply.
Schools: K–12 Campuses and Portable Classrooms
School sites demand repeatable installs, safe daily use by students of all ages, and the flexibility to move assemblies as programs shift. REDD Team ramps are reusable and reconfigurable, so districts can relocate sections as swing space moves or when portable classroom clusters change, all while keeping each run within the rise, width, and landing limits above.
In addition, optional lower “child rails” can be added beneath the primary handrail while maintaining ADA-compliant clearances.
Offices: Tenant Improvements and Multi-Building Campuses
Office projects often require phased work because entrances must remain open for staff and visitors.
Our modular aluminum ramps can be rapidly deployed at lobby entries, temporary detours, or loading areas. The ramps are bolt-together and adjustable. Also, the same kit can be reset to a permanent configuration once the build-out is complete. This can all be done while keeping the accessible route continuous and compliant during every phase.
The accessible route never includes stairs, so companion code stairs for general circulation and OSHA stairs for maintenance access are coordinated alongside the ramped route to reach the same destinations.
Wet-Condition Detailing
Outdoor ramps must shed water from rain and other sources, all while providing traction to ensure safety. Our assemblies pair slip-resistant aluminum decking with integrated drainage paths at platforms and landings.
Edge/threshold detailing moves water away from grade breaks and keeps ponding off walking surfaces while aligning with the ADA/A117.1 expectations for stable, firm, slip-resistant surfaces.
Submittals, Permits, and Inspections
To streamline reviews, REDD Team provides code-aligned layouts that reference the 2010 ADA Standards and ICC A117.1 as adopted by your jurisdiction. Handrail details (height, returns, extensions), landings, edge protection, and width/slope call-outs appear directly on drawings to streamline the process of permitting and inspection.
