If you are looking for modular-building-steps and stair systems but are not entirely sure where to start, consider visiting REDD Team. We have many accessibility products, including ramps and stairs. Our accessibility equipment has been installed in many industrial, educational, military, commercial, and municipal centers throughout the U.S.

6000 Series Aluminum Alloys

Manufacturer of Modular Building Steps & Stair SystemsWhat sets REDD Team’s products apart is our focus on the aluminum alloys we use in their construction.

Our access systems are most often constructed from 6000 series aluminum alloy with 6061-T6 for structural strength. 6061 alloy is an excellent substitute for heavier mild steel products.  It’s structurally strong, tough, easy to join and weld, and will keep its shape in spite of extreme cold or heat. It’s one of the least expensive and most versatile aluminum alloys available.

6061-T6 alloy is made stronger with thermal treatment and aging. It conducts heat well and has good finishing characteristics. Since 6061-T6 can be extruded, we have the ability to form it into nearly any imaginable shape, making it the ideal alloy for constructing a variety of access products.

This alloy also strongly resists rust and corrosion from environmental conditions, making it popular for marine projects and a wide range of other industrial applications.

Compare Aluminum to Wood

  • Aluminum is much lighter than wood, making it easier to move and relocate stair systems and ramps.
  • If properly powder coated, aluminum requires no maintenance. Wood stairs will require repainting every few years.
  • Wood may warp, rot or splinter if not stored properly, and joints can become loose or wobbly.
  • Wood shrinks and expands. Aluminum access systems will maintain their shape and dimension in spite of temperature extremes.

Compare Aluminum to Steel

  • Steel is three times heavier than aluminum by volume and more difficult to move.
  • Steel has to be painted or treated every few years to keep it from rusting and corroding, especially in a damp or abrasive environment. Its natural oxide layer protects it from corrosion.
  • Steel is magnetic; aluminum is nonmagnetic.
  • Steel is not as flexible or elastic as aluminum. Aluminum can be easily machined, cast, drawn and extruded.

Important Considerations

REDD Team offers aluminum stair systems that can be built in a variety of layouts to conform to your available space. All components are universal, so portable stairs can be configured with left or right facing and are fully compatible with our modular ramp solutions.

We manufacture each component with an eye toward integration. This means they are re-locatable and reconfigurable, adding to their superior value. Our outdoor stair designs conform to the current edition of the Aluminum Association Specifications and Guidelines for Aluminum Structures and meet IBC, BOCA and SREF codes. REDD Team stair systems also offer complete ADA compliance when coupled with our Universal Wheelchair Ramp System.

REDD Team is a leading manufacturer of stair systems and a complete line of other products that will serve all of your access requirements. Are you looking for modular building steps and stair systems? Please visit REDD Team online today to place an order.
