Disability Ramps for Public AccessWhen a doorway or grade change stands between people and your building, a well-designed disability ramp for public access turns that barrier into a welcome for everyone. REDD Team engineers aluminum ramp systems for public access that look clean, install quickly, and meet the technical details the ADA requires. Upon installation of a disability ramp, visitors, patients, students, and staff can move with confidence and safety.

Built for Public Entrances, Engineered for Code

Public access ramps have to do more than “feel” accessible. They must meet objective geometry.

Under the ADA Standards, public ramps are limited to a 1:12 running slope (8.33%) with a 1:48 cross-slope, provide 36 inches minimum clear width, include level landings (typically 60 inches long) at the top and bottom, and add handrails when the total rise of a run exceeds 6 inches.

For tight existing sites, the Standards allow limited steeper slopes within a small rise, but best practice is to keep grades gentler for user comfort.

REDD Team designs ramp runs, landings, and handrails to those requirements from the start, so accessibility isn’t just an afterthought; instead, it’s actually built in.

Why Public Facilities Choose Aluminum

Aluminum delivers reliable strength. It also doesn’t experience rust or require the repaint cycles of steel. It’s naturally corrosion-resistant, non-combustible, and far lighter, which speeds installation and simplifies maintenance.

REDD Team systems pair textured, slip-resistant decking with smooth, continuous handrails to keep footing predictable and safe in rain or snow, which is optimum for high-traffic entrances at clinics, campuses, libraries, and municipal buildings.

Modular, Reconfigurable Systems

Public sites evolve and change over time. Temporary entrances during renovations, phased additions, or new traffic patterns are common. Our Universal Wheelchair Ramp System uses modular aluminum components that can be relocated or reconfigured without field welding, giving you ADA-compliant access today but with greater flexibility for tomorrow.

For very small rises at storefront thresholds, aluminum threshold ramps and angled plates provide a smooth roll-through while maintaining durability and load capacity suited to public use.

Integration That Prevents “Last-Inch” Failures

Great ramps can still frustrate users if they meet a bad landing. REDD Team coordinates platform sizes, door clearances, and transitions so wheelchairs and carts cross smoothly and doors operate freely. In addition, the same aluminum platform and stair families are used to keep details consistent and installations fast.
