You can get aluminum stairs added to your site to make it more accessible. A proper aluminum stair setup will include a series of steps, a landing for the top area, and a rail. The design is simple, but it’s essential for keeping your worksite safe and functional. REDD Team respects the value of your steps and will help you with your aluminum stair installation plans.

Aluminum Stair InstallationYour installation will include three critical points. You’ll have the steps themselves, and then there’s a landing for the top area. A series of rails will also go on the sides. These parts will combine to produce a helpful stair setup that will fit your space.

Start With the Steps

First, you’ll require steps that are suitable for your location. The steps should have a rise of 7-3/4 inches or less, plus they should be at least nine inches deep. These sizes are enough to help people get up and down without risking slipping or falling.

A one-inch spacer can also appear on the steps. A spacer is a step surface that goes over the step right below it. This added feature provides extra room for the user’s feet.

REDD Team can build new aluminum steps based on how high your stairs will go. The number you’ll require will vary depending on how high the stairs move, so about three to five steps will be necessary for an average 30 to 36-inch stair setup.

Landing Plans

The landing at the top of the steps is necessary for providing simple access to a door or another entry point at the end. A landing should be at least 36 inches long, but 60 inches is best. The landing must also be as wide as the rest of the steps. A proper landing offers room for transitioning from the steps to the top level or vice versa.

Don’t Forget the Rails

Rails should appear on the sides of the aluminum stairs. Rails will include spindles between the top and bottom parts and post skirts and mounting brackets that connect the rails to the ends. The rails should also be about 34 to 38 inches off the ground, a size that is enough for most people to support.

You’ll require these rails on both sides of the stairs. Spindles are not necessary for any side adjacent to a wall, but you’ll still have to measure how you affix the rail to the wall.

How Long Does the Installation Process Take?

The timing for getting your new aluminum stair installation set up will vary by size and location, but it won’t be as complicated as you assume. REDD Team prefabricates all parts for your stairs, so no cutting or trimming is necessary. We will also ship the necessary anchors, fasteners, and other items needed for installation, meaning you won’t require outside parts to finish the job.

Aluminum is also lightweight, so it’s easy to handle during installation. You won’t require too many outside people to help you get your stairs ready.
