All buildings have access points of varying heights from the ground. A mobile building might have a door that rises a few feet from the ground, while a warehouse dock will have a door at the same height as the opening bay door that a truck normally uses. Whatever the case, if you have an opening off the ground, you’ll require aluminum access stairs. The REDD Team can assist you in designing and planning your access stairs.

How Are the Steps Designed?

Aluminum Access StairsThe steps on your stairs should be sized so people can quickly go up and down. The general rules to consider for your steps are as follows:

  • The riser should be anywhere from four to seven inches high.
  • The tread should be about nine to twelve inches deep. The tread should be deep enough to where an average foot can get on and off of it without struggle.
  • The width can be about 22 inches if one person will use the steps at a time. However, the steps can be 36 inches or greater if multiple people use them simultaneously.
  • The angle of the steps can be from 30 to 50 degrees. They can’t be too steep, though, so people might struggle to go up them or go too fast down them.
  • All these features are designed with handrails with top parts about 34 to 38 inches above the walking surface. These rails are necessary to provide a guard for people going up and down the steps.

The steps should also be designed with enough openings to keep water from accumulating, especially if they are outdoors. The REDD Team can plan the proper size for your steps while establishing the correct number of openings to create a safe space for going up and down.

What About Multiple Floors?

You can also get aluminum access stairs for buildings where you’ll need to cover multiple floors. REDD Team can design aluminum stairs with extended landings that lead to another stairwell heading to the next floor. This feature is helpful for mobile buildings or warehouses with multiple floors.

What Makes Aluminum Useful?

Aluminum is one of the world’s best metals, and we will proudly use it for your step project. We use aluminum in all our steps at REDD Team for many reasons:

  • Aluminum can handle immense amounts of weight. If you let us know your anticipated load, we’ll plan an aluminum body to handle it.
  • Aluminum is easy to machine and shape in different forms. We can produce custom-made steps based on your measurements through recyclable and shapeable aluminum materials.
  • The lightweight aluminum design makes it easy to install and won’t be hard to carry around like steel. We pre-fabricate all parts to make them easy to assemble and install at your site.

Our work at REDD Team is about helping you get more out of your aluminum access stairs. The points necessary for getting stairs ready can vary by site, and we’ll be prepared to help you with whatever you want to get from your steps.
