Your platform will require a few feet of space on each side to allow people to go through without obstruction. A ramp should also be wide enough to fit a standard wheelchair. You can also get a double-wide ramp that creates two separate lanes for people going in different directions, plus a ramp can go midway through the spot.
Protective Rails
All ramps and platforms require safe rails, and REDD Team can build them for your spot. A ramp will need handrails about 34 to 38 inches in height, which should be enough for people in wheelchairs to handle. The guardrails on a platform can be slightly higher up.
All rails must be capable of handling at least 200 pounds of pressure from any angle. They must have openings that are small enough to keep items four inches in diameter or greater from escaping, providing a safe surface that won’t risk harm.
