Providing safe access to the beach and other waterfront locations is not always a simple task. REDD Team designs and manufactures cost-effective aluminum access solutions, including aluminum stairs, to meet your industrial, commercial and municipal waterfront design requirements.

We are a leading national manufacturer of high quality aluminum access products, such as conventional stairways, crossover stairs, wheelchair ramps, gangways, docks, platforms and other access solutions. Whatever type of access you need, rest assured that we will meet your most exacting architectural specifications.

Waterfront Access Solutions

Aluminum Stairs for Beach AccessREDD Team engineers and builds a variety of aluminum access products suitable for waterfront use that can be custom designed to fit your specific site needs. They include:

  • Beach access stairs and ramps
  • ADA wheelchair ramps
  • Floating dock systems and piers
  • Aluminum dock stairs
  • Vessel boarding/servicing ramps
  • Waterfront walkways and pedestrian bridges
  • Golf cart bridges
  • Slip-resistant catwalks and platforms

OSHA imposes a duty on longshoring and marine employers to protect workers and pedestrians from serious safety hazards. In a waterfront environment, wet, slippery stairs and walkways are a common problem. The slip-resistant surfaces we utilize on our aluminum access products will provide you with a permanent solution.

Whether you are starting a new project or renovating an older one, access and mobility will be two of your primary considerations. Our exceptional staff of engineers and designers will work with you to accommodate specialized load conditions, water piping, electrical conduits, etc, even for the most difficult, often impossible environments.

Aluminum: A Great Choice for the Waterfront

Aluminum has proven itself as a lightweight, durable and affordable material, but it has many other advantages that make it the material of choice for a wide variety of products, on and off the waterfront, including:

  • High strength to weight ratio
  • Density one-third that of steel
  • Excellent rust and corrosion resistance
  • Weldable
  • Ease of forming, bending and machining
  • High thermal and electrical conductivity
  • Non-magnetic
  • Infinitely recyclable

The light weight of aluminum is a huge advantage for projects along the beach because it creates extremely portable access products in comparison to wood or steel. In fact, aluminum stairs with the strength of mild steel can weigh about 50% less.

In terms of maintenance, aluminum is also the winner. Aluminum can be left unpainted around fresh water, if desired. When continuously exposed to oxygen, it naturally develops a film of aluminum oxide which bonds to the metal and prevents corrosion. Wood and steel require constant painting and caulking to keep them looking and functioning well.

In a salt-water environment, a protective paint coating that creates a barrier between the aluminum and the water will prevent galvanic corrosion (from mixed metals). It may need a touch-up each year but should not need repainting more than every three or four years.

At REDD Team, we construct our high-quality American-made access products from non-corrosive, non-combustible aluminum alloy 6061-T6, 6063-T5 and 6063-T6 for structural strength. They are virtually maintenance free. When you need aluminum stairs or a similar product for beach access, call us at (800) 648-3696 to find out how we can meet your needs.
